Closing Summary- Market Synopsis- 12 April, 2012

After opening the day on a positive note, the major stock indices kept the momentum going till the session’s end. Even a weaker-than-forecast IIP data for February, coupled with a shocking downward revision in January's data failed to deter the positivity of the market. The Indices closed above the crucial mark on optimism that the RBI will cut its key lending rate to revive growth. Further, a positive trend across the global markets added fuel to the fire. This led the midcap and the small-cap counters to close positive by nearly a percentage point each.
