Triggered by weak Asian cues, the benchmark indices started trade on a negative note. Amidst volatility, the bourses traded in red throughout the session today. Finally, the indices ended down for the second straight session. Nifty closed down by around 71 points to close at 5235 while Sensex closed at 17233 with a loss of 257 points. Infosys delivered a disappointing set of quarterly earnings and industrial production data showed a downward revision in April which disappointed the investors. The IIP for May however grew at 2.4% after registering negative growth for two consecutive months. Except Realty and Oil & Gas, all the other sectoral indices closed in the red. IT and Teck were the biggest losers with over four percent loss.
