The key Indian stock indices started the day on a dull note and ended the day on a similar note today. The European markets opening with a negative bias, further added to the cautious sentiments. The Sensex closed at the level of 17489.14 i.e., down by 129.21 points and the Nifty closed at the level of 5306.3 i.e., down by 39.05 points. This led the midcap and the small-cap counters to close negative. On the sectoral front, except for Capital Goods Index, all the other indices closed in red. Auto & FMCG indices closed as the major losers with losses of over a percentage points each. Further, the market breadth closed negative as only three stocks were seen advancing for every five declines.
