Closing Summary, Market Synopsis: 2nd June, 2014


Benchmark as well as broader indices rallied 2 percent on Monday ahead of RBI policy review. Economists expect the central bank to keep policy rates unchanged. The 30-share BSE Sensex surged 467.51 points to 24684.85 and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 132.55 points to 7362.50, recouping last week’s losses. On BSE, Midcap and Smallcap closed in green with Midcap up by 2.16% and Smallcap closed up by 2.01%. On sectoral front, Capital Goods ended significantly higher with adding as much as 4.93% and on the flipside, Healthcare closed in red, logging a decline of 0.92% at the time of market closing.
Further the market breath stands negative with 1978 shares are seen advancing against 1013 shares.
