Key benchmark indices edged lower in choppy trading session as weakness in European and Asian stocks weighed on sentiment adversely. CNX Nifty shut shop at 7402, down by 13.6 points but managed to close above 7400 level, this is two consecutive closes above the crucial 7400 level. The BSE Mid-Cap and the BSE Small-Cap indices were up almost 2% each.

Exporters were among the top decliners in the rally in anticipation of Narendra Modi's victory in general elections last month, as investors preferred domestic-oriented stocks that would benefit from a revival in the economy.The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market was positive, in Nifty50 stocks the advances to declines stands at 22 advances to 28 declines.
