Closing Summary, Market Synopsis: 4th April, 2014


Key benchmark indices edged lower as investors turned cautious ahead of beginning of the 9-phase Lok Sabha elections on Monday, 7 April 2014. The S&P BSE Sensex hit lowest closing level in one week. The 50-unit CNX Nifty hit over one-week low to close at 6694(closing below the psychological level of 6700) down by 42 points. Foreign investors have been heavy buyers of Indian shares, adding $119.11 million worth of cash shares on Thursday, and bringing the total since February end to nearly $3.5 billion.

The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was positive,but in Nifty50 stocks the advances to declines stands at 15 advances to 35 declines.
