Closing Summary- Market Synopsis- 3 January, 2012

The major indices kick-started trade at intraday lows, albeit in green. Thereafter, the gauges kept moving northwards till the closing bell and ended the second day of the year on an extremely bullish note. The Sensex ended the day with a gain of around 2.7 percent or 421 points, while Nifty also closed around 2.8 percent or 128 points higher. Broader markets gained, with BSE midcap index rising 2.4 percent while the BSE Smallcap index ending higher by 2.3 percent.
