Closing Summary- Market Synopsis- 19 January, 2012

The market started the day on an upbeat note following strong global cues. Overnight gains in the US and IMF’s plan to expand its lending resources to counter Europe's debt crisis, bolstered investor confidence across the globe. The Sensex ended the day up by 192 points at 16644 while Nifty was up 63 points at 5018. The BSE Midcap and the BSE Smallcap indices too edged 1.43% and 1.24% higher.
