Closing Summary- Market Synopsis- 8 February, 2012

It was a choppy day today with the market moving range-bound in the maximum part of the session. However, during the latter half, indices tried breaking upwards, but with little success. As soon as the market tried edging upwards, selling pressure was observed, and the market was dragged down to the previous level. Finally with all the ups and downs, the midcap index closed with gains of nearly one and a half percentage points and small-cap counters closed with an average gain of 0.9 percentage point.
