Markets flat on first day of FY15-16: Markets have turned flat after making a marginally lower opening on first day of the financial year 2015-16. Investors’ sentiment further got dampened after the growth in output of eight core industries, which has a weight of nearly 38% in the Index of Industrial Production, stood at 1.4% in February, a 17-month low.
At 9:45 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 27947 down 10 points, while NSE Nifty was trading at 8483 down 8 points. The Mid-cap and Small-cap Index, both, is out-performing the broader indices. The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market is strong. The currency market is closed today on account of banks' holiday.
