Morning Summary, Market Synopsis: 7th March, 2014


Equity benchmarks touched fresh record high in early trade Friday with the Nifty hitting 6450 level and Sensex trading over 21600 level supported by banks, capital goods and oil & gas stocks. Indian rupee opened with marginal gains of 11 paise at 61 per dollar today as against previous day's closing value of 61.11 a dollar. Globally, a better-than-expected report on weekly US jobless claims sent US stocks rising on Thursday. Asian stocks are also trading higher today. On BSE, Midcap and Small cap are trading higher with gains of 0.25% and 0.31% respectively. On sectoral front, Bankex is the leading sector, adding as much as 3% while on the other hand, IT is the worst performer to decline 1.88% as we write this.

Further the market breath stands positive with 1194 shares are seen advancing against 702 declining shares.
