The Indian benchmarks ended the
day on a negative note on December 28, 2013. The indexes opened on a stronger
note and inched up. After gaining some minor ground, the high of the day was
made and indexes started losing ground. In the end, they closed towards the low
of the day. The market sunk into pressure after opening in the green. The Nifty
ended the day below 6300, 6291.10 down 23 points, while the Sensex closed 51
points lower at 21143.01.While the BSE Midcap lost 0.10 percent, Small cap
soared a 0.22 percent. Bhel, Coal India, HDFC, Tata Motors and Reliance were
top gainers in the Sensex. On the losing side were Infosys, Bajaj Auto,
M&M, L&T, and ICICI Bank. On the sectoral front, all the indexes except
three closed in red. The Metal Index closed as the biggest gainer with the
gains of more than two-third of a percentage point. On the other hand Realty
Index closed as the biggest loser with a loss of slightly less than one and
six-tens of a percentage point.
Further, the market breadth
closed positive as six stocks were seen advancing against five declining
stocks.
