Key benchmark indices retreated from a record high on Monday as blue chips fell on risk aversion in global markets after gold and oil tumbled, while caution also prevailed a day ahead of the Reserve Bank of India's policy review. Nifty closed down 0.38 percent at 8,555.90, after earlier hitting a record high of 8,623.
