Closing Summary, Market Synopsis: 4th February, 2014


Indian equity market pared its losses as prices recovered sharply after a sluggish opening today. Sensex closed at 20211.93 with a meager gain of 0.01% or 2.67 points while Nifty closed above the key mark of 6000.0 at 6000.90, nominally lower by 0.01%. Midcap and Small cap on BSE were also higher with Midcap gained 0.39% and Small cap edged up 0.20% at the time of market close. On sectoral front, Bankex was the top gainer to surge 0.90%, followed by FMCG, Power and others while on down side, IT was the worst performer to end down 1.78%.

The market breath is neutral with one stock is seen rising against each falling stock.
