Closing Summary, Market Synopsis: 12th September, 2013

After continuous rise of five days, Indian market snapped the rally and closed in negative territory on September 12, 2013. Indian equities were hammered down in trade today as bears took charge. The Sensex ended at 19781.88, down 215.57 points or 1.08 percent and the Nifty fell 62.45 points or 1.06 percent to close at 5850.70. In the large cap stocks , Tata Power , ITC , GAIL , NTPC and Cipla were top gainers in the Sensex. On the downside were Tata Steel , BHEL , Hero MotoCorp, ONGC and Maruti Suzuki. In the broader market, While BSE midcap index closed in red by losing four basis points of a percentage point, BSE Small Cap index closed in green with the gain of quarter of a percentage point. On the sectoral front , most of the indicies, except two, were trading in red. The BSE Realty Index was the biggest gainer with the gain of 0.54%. On the other hand BSE Metal index was the biggest looser with the loss of 2.54%. This was followed by BSE Bankex, which was trading with the loss of 1.86%.
 
Further, market breadth closed neutral as one stock was seen advancing against each declining stock.
