Closing Summary, Market Synopsis: 11th April, 2013

Indices ended up on short covering, led by gains in real estate, bank, and information technology shares. Infosys led gains in the IT sector, rising 3.6% on hope it would detail a positive Jan-Mar result and sales guidance for 2013-14 (Apr-Mar). The Nifty, which had topped the 5600-mark intraday, failed to close above the key resistance level. It provisionally ended at 5594.00, up 35.30 points, Sensex closed up by 128 pts. The market breadth was positive, with 689 advance and 570 declines on NSE.

Metal, power, and oil and gas shares were among laggards. Bharti Airtel, down over 2% as the apex court asked it to not add new subscribers in circles where it does not have 3G licences, was among major laggards on Nifty.
