The markets fell by nearly half a percentage point in opening trade today, extending yesterday's losses. Investors were cautious ahead of the monthly expiry in the derivatives segment tomorrow. A weakening trend on other Asian bourses returning to action after extended Christmas holidays accelerated the selling activity. All the sectoral indices were seen trading in the red. Stocks of Metal, Banking, Capital Goods and Realty sectors were under pressure with over one percent losses. Market breadth was weak and one stock was seen advancing against every two declines.
