Key benchmark indices again hit fresh high today, both Nifty & Sensex closed at record high. The BSE Sensex is up 0.3 percent, while the Nifty shut shop at 8383.3 up by 0.25% (20.65 points).

The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market was negative in Nifty50 stocks, the advance to decline stood at 24 advances to 26 declines.

Commodity Market Update (Gold)

Gold prices are trading lower at 1162.30, -0.06% and Silver is at 15.60, down by 0.21% as we write this. The intraday bias remains negative for precious metals. Base metals on LME are trading in green with Copper as an exception is lower by just 0.04% at 6686.00. Other base metals are trading positive with Nickel leading the gainer with a gain of 0.75% at 15572.00. Crude Oil and Natural Gas on NYM are trading lower with easing 0.86% and 1.32% respectively. Crude Oil is trading at 77.23 and Natural Gas is at 4.19 per mmbtu. Bias remains negative for Crude Oil and Natural Gas.

The market has opened at new record high following strong global cues. The Sensex is up 48.58 points at 27958.64 and the Nifty is up 27.70 points at 8390.35. The Indian rupee opened flat at 61.52 per dollar versus 61.55 Tuesday. The yen hovers around seven-year lows against the dollar early on reports that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will call a general election in December. On BSE, Midcap and Smallcap are trading in green with gaining 0.81% and 0.64% respectively. On Scetoral front, Auto is the top gainer to add 1.56% while power is the worst performer to ease 0.25% as we write this.
Further the market breadth stands positive with 1441 shares are seen advancing against 868 declining shares.

Closing Summary, Market Synopsis: 11 th September, 2014

Key benchmark indices edged higher on Tuesday as rate-sensitive Banking stocks rose on hopes lower retail inflation data would lead to early interest rate cuts, although profit-taking prevented the indexes from hitting further record highs. Meanwhile, non-banking finance companies like Housing Development Finance Corporation also rose after the central bank unveiled rules on bad loans and capital requirements that came largely along expected lines. The broader NSE Nifty rose 0.22 percent to end at 8,362.65, also marking a record closing high.

The market breadth indicating the overall health of the market was positive in Nifty50 stocks, the advance to decline stood at 28 advances to 22 declines.

Precious metals on COMEX are trading lower since morning and continue its last session’s decline to the 4-years lowest level. Actively traded Gold contract tested a low of 1145.50 before settling at 1251.20, down 8.70 points or 0.75% an ounce and Silver is down around a percent or 13 cents to trade at 15.54 after having tested a low of 15.445. Base metals are trading lower due to stronger dollar against the other currencies. Aluminum is leading the group, fell 1.42% or 29 points to 2009.75 while Copper also declined around a percent or 58 points to 6611.75, followed by rest of the metals. WTI Crude Oil is extending its slide to multi years low and trading at 77.16, down 19 cents or 0.26% while Natural Gas slashed over 2.25% or 10 cents to trade at 4.159 after having tested a low of 4.13 mmbtu.

On BSE, midcap and small cap are trading in green with recording gains of 0.60% each, as we write this. On sectoral front, with an exception of IT all other sectors are trading higher. Realty is trading with maximum gains of 1.22% at the time of writing this.

Closing Summary, Market Synopsis: 10th November, 2014

Amid a divergent trend among various index constituents, key benchmark indices eked out small gains. The 50-unit CNX Nifty hit record high on intraday basis as well as on closing basis. CNX Nifty shut shop at 8344, up by 7 points. FMCG stocks edged higher on renewed buying. Bank stocks declined.
